Informatica Bolsters Data Governance Capabilities with Diaku Acquisition

On February 22, 2017, Informatica announced its acquisition of Diaku, developer of Axon data governance software. The Diaku acquisition—announced at Informatica’s MDM 360 Summit—further legitimizes Informatica’s data governance story. And the technical integration of Diaku Axon into the Informatica stack closes a gap in Informatica’s service offerings.

Data governance functions are an essential piece of a successful data-management operation. More importantly, data governance is a compelling buying-decision element for enterprise IT leaders—call it a checkbox, but it’s a big one on the enterprise data technology adoption criteria list.

This strategic move gives current and potential Informatica customers—particularly those in regulated industries—a new, software-enabled solution for governing data, and that’s a very good thing, as long as they have the skillsets and innovative mindsets to get the most out of it. Competing tech vendors without data governance coverage should consider developing it, or at least partnering with data governance point-solution providers.
