Watson and Einstein in Love: IBM and Salesforce Partner on AI

On March 6th, 2017, IBM and Salesforce announced a global partnership aimed at fostering artificial intelligence (AI) in the enterprise. Under the terms of the deal, IBM and Salesforce will integrate their respective Watson and Einstein AI technologies, ultimately enabling Salesforce customers to leverage IBM Watson AI capabilities from within the CRM.

In addition, IBM will build out its global services to deliver integrated Watson + Einstein customer solutions. That delivery will come from IBM’s Bluewolf team, a consulting services group (and Salesforce partner company) IBM acquired last spring.

The agreement promises a romantic ideal of easily-integrated, AI data workflows in the enterprise. Now it’s up to IBM and Salesforce to deliver on that vision. In this report, Blue Hill Research outlines key impacts for enterprises considering either or both technologies.
